The 100th EASA Region 10 Meeting

A word from our President, Nigel Dunstone

Last weekend saw the running of our 100th Chapter meeting at Coolangatta Gold Coast with 49 attendees. As happens every second year, we had a visit from the International Chairman of the Board, Sid Seymour & his wife Denise from Canada, who continued the tradition of being very humble and down to earth people. I have a great memory of repeatedly hearing Sid’s iconic laugh!  There was a variety of presentations ranging from Health & Safety, Coil Manufacturing, Website Development, Motor Application & Maintenance, Motor Condition Monitoring, Bearing Loads & Lubrication & Motor Test Equipment. There was also a Zoom presentation from the European Region 9 President Bjorn Mjatveit & General Manager Frederic Beghain who gave us insights and advice into the training they have been providing their members. We especially appreciate this as it was 1.00am European time when this was delivered. The Saturday night dinner provided entertainment from an Illusionist/Hypnotist and our fine session raised over $1,200 was from our innocent misbehaviour over the weekend. This was donated toProstate Cancer Research.

Two Distinguished Service Awards were given out to long time secretary Michael Tate & the first non-American International Chairman of the Board, Les Parsons. Both have provided decades of input and experience to our Chapter as well as being President & Regional Directors. We would like to thank our good friend from across the ditch, Regional Director Craig Millbank, for organising this.

Our next meeting will be held by popular demand in Melbourne with the tentative dates of Friday 20th and Sat 21st October and it will be our AGM.

I would like to thank the committee for their assistance and taking care of the things I missed and a big thankyou to first-time Secretary Paul Knock, who was the real workhorse behind organising these meetings, while I sit back & look pretty. That is why I enlisted the help of long-time attendee Nikoletta Tsoumanis for specialist hair styling advice!
