Alpha Electrics and Water (AEW) has provided innovative electrical and water solution for Tasmanian industry for over 50 years. We are Tasmania’s largest supplier and repairer of electric motors. The business continues to grow and develop, with a focus on the present and future needs of our customers.

From the vision and ingenuity of the founding Phillips brothers, over 50 years ago, to today's highly-skilled, technologically advanced workforce, AEW continues to pride ourselves on being customer focused, results driven and passionate in the search for solutions to our customers' needs.

The company is Tasmanian owned and operated by Eddie Maguire and Kent Wyllie. Eddie and Kent are both proud Tasmanians, born and raised on the Northwest Coast. We have a passion for our state, which motivated us both to ensure that Alpha Electrics & Water remained a wholly Tasmanian owned business, employing Tasmanians to support Tasmanians. AEW employs over 65 people across Tasmania.

The business provides a statewide service from its three well-equipped branches at; 24-30 Fairlands Drive Somerset (Head office), 3 Speedway Drive Latrobe and 44 Browns Road Kingston. All branches are fitted with a job tracking program that allows us to monitor the job process whilst it is in progress and all the relevant information is stored for future reference if required.

Skilled Tradesmen

Alpha Electrics & Water recognise the need to have appropriately skilled tradesmen working on your electric motors during shutdown time or breakdowns. We can place skilled electrical fitters, mechanical fitters and electricians on your site to remove, overhaul and refit your electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and fans. These tradespeople are supported by equipment such as a fully adjustable portable gantry crane up to 20 tonne, laser coupling and belt alignment equipment and the full facilities of our workshop should repair work be required. Statewide we have fully equipped 

  • 3 x 2 tonne trucks, 
  • 1 x 6 tonne truck, 
  • 24 x 1 tonne utes, 
  • 19 x 1 tonne dual cab utes, and 
  • 8 x trailers (1-3.5 tonne) 

that are ready for all onsite and after-hours work.

Water Management Services

Alpha Electrics & Water has extensive experience supplying specialist water solutions in mining, civil, aquaculture, agriculture, and domestic environments. We are the specialists in water management products, offering expert advice and a wide variety of products for projects both large and small.

Our highly-skilled technicians are experienced in all aspects of reticulation and pumping, allowing them to quickly identify and remedy system faults and have your system back up and running.
